Foundations in AI: a conversation between academia and government

SAPA’s CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION SERIES

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has advanced as one of the most prominent technological innovations to push the conversation about the digital transformation of the public sector. Among others, AI can enhance policymaking, optimize public services, and foster greater civic engagement.  Despite its potential benefits, the pervasive use of AI may introduce different types of risks, such as data privacy and security concerns, economic challenges related to costs and investments associated with the use of AI, and particularly AI-related societal and ethical implications.

During this first in a series of webinars focusing on AI, we will discuss benefits and challenges of the use of AI in government from both an academic and a practitioner perspective and will present ideas for academia and government to work together in maximizing the benefits of AI while minimizing its risks.
