Rockefeller College’s Center for Women in Government March 7, 2024 Program

Rockefeller College’s Center for Women in Government and Civil Society presents a conference titled: Policy and Practice Innovations – Strengthening Women’s Mental Well Being Across the Lifespan.

The conference will explore policies and practices that address disparities in access to prevention and healing for women across the lifespan. The conference will address policy and practice solutions for trauma, depression and stress experience by:

  • (a) teenage girls;
  • (b) new mothers;
  • (c) survivors of violence against women;
  • (d) women at gendered workplaces; and
  • (e) aging women.

Challenges facing women at different junctures of their lives are exacerbated by the intersection of gender with race, ethnicity, nativity status, ability, and sexual orientation. The conference uses an equity lens in analyzing issues of disparities in accessing behaviors/mental health services. Emphasis is placed on systems of care, practices and policies that effectively narrow the disparity gap. The conference will feature remarks by key state leaders, a keynote presentation, a panel of practitioners, and a panel of legislative leaders who will explore public policy responses to challenges in accessing prevention and healing services. Concluding remarks will offer a call to action to strengthen accessibility to, and availability of systems of care. A Policy Brief will document proceedings of the conference and highlight policy recommendations offered by experts.
