Welcome to the New York State Academy for Public Administration (SAPA). The State Academy was formed in 1974, harnessing the energy and expertise of our academic and practitioner Fellows who are dedicated to continual improvement of public service. It is a unique organization that serves and is served by New York State’s Public Administration Professionals.
Our launch fifteen years ago of the Candid Conversations series of brown bag lunches became more successful with each session as word of the discussions and topics spread. Hundreds more have benefited from thoughtful policy programs co-sponsored by our partners at the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy and the Rockefeller Institute of Government. In 2018-19 we re-introduced the Essentials in Public Administration Program which is designed to provide New Professionals an opportunity to network with one another and with mid-career and senior public administrators. It also has been a good program to add membership to SAPA. Essentials continues today!
