Our Public Service Excellence Awards Program and those we recognize embody the core of what SAPA represents, which is to engage public service professionals in support of fostering excellence in public service. In 2024, the SAPA Board unanimously approved a proposal to re-constitute the Arnold Steigman Award for Excellence in Teaching to be awarded annually to a part-time instructor at the graduate or undergraduate level in public administration.
For 2024 SAPA Public Service Excellence Awards were awarded to Individual & Team Excellence Awards will go to:

- Michael Zurlo, Clinton County Administrator received the Robert D. McEvoy Excellence in Local Government Service Award
- Professor Janet Mayo-Hyde from the University at Albany’s Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy received the Arnold L. Steigman PhD Excellence in Teaching Award
